Piedmont's Very Own Ride for Charity

Thirty years ago, David and Renee Bartels were asked to represent Mayflower Transit in Kyle Petty’s charity motorcycle ride across the country.  Initially asked only to ride the first leg of the journey to represent Mayflower, the owners of Piedmont Moving Systems haven’t gotten off the road since.  David and Renee are two of only ten people to ride every year since the founding in 1995.

In the beginning, the charity ride raised money for children’s hospitals, and the riders would visit some of the hospitals along the way.  Touched and inspired by their fellow riders dedicating their vacation time to the charity, the Bartels have vowed to support the charity ride as long as Kyle would do it.  Today the charity ride raises money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp – a summer camp for chronically ill children.

Since the second year of the ride, Piedmont Moving Systems has provided the trucks for transport of the motorcycles for the ride.  The Bartels and Piedmont Moving Systems are proud to support this unique charity in its goal to help provide ill children with an empowering life experience.
